We are in the process of planning out how to take advantage of the increase in guild ranks we are anticipating as part of the next major patch. Bioware is increasing the number of guild ranks in game from 10 ranks to 20 ranks. Which is a welcome upgrade since we have already maxed out the existing rank structure.
As part of our plan to take advantage of these new ranks we will be adding nine new ranks to the guild. Two of these will be reserve ranks for alts, one for guild leader alts and one for player alts. These will be ranks dedicated just to alt characters in order to make administrative duties simpler for the guild leaders.
We will also be introducing a rank exclusively dedicated to Event Runners. Our Event Runners are often the heart of our organized activity within the guild. They've taken on additional roles and responsibilities and while we've been able to provide some perks in recognition of their hard work this is the first chance we have to reward them with a prestigeous rank exclusive to their role.
The remaining seven ranks will be added through the existing rank structure and spread out fairly evenly through the ranks. As a result of the increase in the number of ranks the cost of ranks will be rebalanced to keep the overall cost structure similar to what we have today to reach the top tier levels. The result is a dramatic shift down in the cost of mid and higher level ranks, which as of this writing has been put into effect. Those who are interested in acquiring higher ranks may do so at significantly reduced costs.
In recognition for years of dedication to the guild we will be offering courtesy promotions in some cases. For senior level ranks (at Commodore and above) if you are at a rank that has been superceded by a new rank you will be promoted to the new higher rank at no cost to you. For instance the new rank of Rear Admiral will created above Commodore. If you are currently a Commodore you will be promoted to Rear Admiral.
With the additional ranks will also come a rebalancing of the weekly web point distributions per rank. You'll note the web point grants in the web store have now move from 10 point increments to 5 point increments. This will allow us to add increased web point grants for the new ranks without distoring the balance of the web point economy too much. Some existing ranks will see an increase in distribution as a result of this. No ranks will see a reduction. Existing ranks will either remain the same or increase as a result of this rebalancing.
We're very excited about some of the changes in the forthcoming patch as they pertain to guild functions. Please be patient with us as we work to integrate as many of these changes into the web site and work out any bugs in the process. If you encounter problems with the store, your rank or anything else with the guild web site please report it immediately so we can work to resolve any issues.
